Home Team Festival at Expo

The Challenge

The Home Team Festival at Expo attracted an unprecedented turnout of over 100,000 attendees, spread across 215,000 sq. ft of exhibition space. The main challenges were:

  1. Crowd Distribution Monitoring: The need to monitor crowd distribution within the exhibition hall was critical to:
    • Facilitate crowd diversion in case of overcrowding.
    • Redistribute resources to crowded booths for better queue and visitor experience management.
    • Make data-driven improvements for future event planning.
  2. Inadequate Counting Methods: Traditional entrance counting and clickers only provided a cumulative count of visitors inside the entire exhibition hall, which was divided into five zones with free movement between them. Conventional line crossing technology was ineffective as there were no designated entry and exit points for each zone.
  3. Ambient Lighting Issues: The exhibition hall’s unforeseen ambient lighting filled the premises with purplish hues, interfering with the human detection algorithms, making it difficult to accurately count the number of people.

Solution

To address these challenges, the ADA (Anomaly Detection A.I.) system was deployed:

  • Adaptive Learning: ADA was quickly trained to adapt to the challenging lighting conditions within the premises, significantly improving its accuracy in detecting and counting people.
  • Zone-Specific Analytics: Cameras were deployed across the five zones, allowing ADA to provide accurate crowd counts at scheduled intervals. This allowed for real-time monitoring and facilitated crowd management decision-making.
  • Data Presentation: ADA presented the crowd data in easy-to-read graphs, which helped establish baselines, highlight anomalies, and facilitate quick, data-driven adjustments.

Result

Without the need for expensive edge-processing cameras or systems, the ADA solution successfully increased surveillance coverage by deploying more cameras within the allocated budget. This enabled efficient crowd management, enhanced visitor experience, and provided valuable data for future planning and resource allocation during similar large-scale events.

The example about the mattress sizing page you mentioned in the last WBF can be a perfect example of new keywords and content, and broadening the funnel as well. I can only imagine the sale numbers if that was the site of a mattress selling company
